Te Kara, the 1835 United Tribes flag, was chosen by northern rangatira, approved by King William IV, and recognised internationally for trade. Though the Union Jack replaced it after Te Tiriti o Waitangi, it was never decommissioned and remains a legal New Zealand flag, symbolising Māori independence and identity.
It is with great honour to announce that the beautiful Whaea Linda Munn has given her blessing for KRS to create Te Kara Māori - known as the Tino Rangatiratanga haki.
